Air separation oxygen production technology is a world wide advance gas separation technology. It is also the most widely used oxygen production technology. It use physical method PSA (press swing absorption) to extracted directly from air.

Currently all medical oxygen concentrator use PSA technology.It uses the different absorption ability of the zeolite molecular sieve between oxygen and nitrogen to separate oxygen and nitrogen.

When the air comes into the absorbent bed, as the molecular sieve has stronger absorbing ability to nitrogen than oxygen, the nitrogen is absorbed on the surface of the molecular sieve and oxygen isn’t absorbed. Thus, we can get high purity oxygen at the outlet end of the absorption bed.

Because the absorbing ability will change with the pressure, when we change the pressure, we can finish the process of adsorption and suction.The whole process is a periodic dynamic cycle process.The molecular sieve itself is not consumed.

The working pressure of the molecular sieve oxygen concentrator is 0.2-0.5 mpa. There is no high-pressure, flammable and combustible danger. Most of the dust in the air can be filtered during oxygen production. The first molecular sieve oxygen concentrator is made by Germany about 100years ago. The oxygen concentrator with 5L is the most popular type.When the oxygen production is 5L per minute, 5L pure oxygen is mixed to 41% oxygen when it is inhaled into the lung which is the exact oxygen purity suitable for long-term alveolar exchange of oxygen.

The oxygen molecular sieves normally include rich oxygen molecular sieve 5A, molecular sieve 13X HP, lithium molecular sieve. Different oxygen concentrator choose different type of molecular sieve based on the oxygen purity requirement, air pressure and other relative data.
